User Manual - Upward Expander with F=ma Physics Engine
EVERTONE EXPANDER is an innovative upward expander that applies the physics law F=ma (Force = Mass × Acceleration) to audio processing. It distinguishes itself from conventional digital processing by achieving natural dynamics control through equations of motion.
The main feature of this plugin is the physics calculation engine based on the F=ma equation of motion. By treating audio signals as mass and applying acceleration components to electrical energy conversion, it produces unprecedented natural and musical expansion effects.
When recording sound with a microphone, the recorded signal captures transients with their original acceleration attenuated or lost. Signals that have lost acceleration cannot adequately drive speakers, causing flat sound images, peak frequency generation, and masking phenomena.
EVERTONE EXPANDER makes it possible to naturally restore the acceleration of transients that should originally be in recordings, greatly improving peak and masking issues in sound processing and facilitating the separation of transients to create three-dimensional sound.
Four physics modes are available, each with different acceleration characteristics:
Conventional standard expansion
Delicate and subtle expansion with low acceleration
Balanced type with medium acceleration, highly versatile setting
Powerful and dynamic expansion with high acceleration
Sets the volume level at which expansion begins. The expansion effect is applied to signals above this value.
Determines the expansion intensity. Higher values result in stronger expansion effects and longer peak level retention.
Controls the response speed when the signal exceeds the threshold. Short values respond instantly, while long values respond gradually.
Sets the return time when the signal falls below the threshold. An important parameter for controlling musical sustain.
Peak hold function. Realizes musical dynamic changes by maintaining peak level for a certain time. You can enable Hold Bypass at 0 value by minimizing the slider.
Adjusts the smoothness of operation around the threshold. Smaller values result in hard knee, larger values in soft knee.
Limits the maximum expansion range. Prevents extreme expansion and ensures operation within a practical range.
This is the plugin's unique mode that focuses on "naturally restoring dynamics lost during recording" through extremely natural expander operation based on physical laws.
Recommended Settings: FORCE 1.00, DAMPING 1, HOLD 0 is the pure physics law setting.
Controls the intensity of "force" in physics calculations, enabling active addition of the concept of acceleration in dynamics processing.
Controls the damping characteristics of the physics system. At 1, normal damping; at 1000, instantaneous cutoff effect. This extreme range enables special dynamic effects that were previously impossible.
EVERTONE EXPANDER captures the DAW's BPM within the plugin even when BPM SYNC is off, and displays the BPM in the upper right of the screen. The NOTE GRID function allows you to change the ATTACK, HOLD, and RELEASE sliders to step-based control based on note grids.
Integrates control of the three timing parameters: ATTACK, HOLD, and RELEASE. Adjustment is possible up to ±100% relative to the adjacent reference note grid.
The waveform display screen in the center of EVERTONE EXPANDER allows you to visually check the input signal in real-time. This waveform display is not just a display function, but an important tool for intuitively understanding the effect of expansion processing.
Output Curve Visualization: Displays the actual output curve with a green line.
CLAMP/FREE: Visually clamps each curve so it doesn't overflow from the bottom of the waveform display window. In FREE mode, waveforms may be drawn outside the window. Select according to your waveform visibility needs.
DRY/WET Output Curve and Effect Curve: Features an output curve that graphically shows the waveform state according to the MIX value. Transient and envelope curves can be viewed at MIX 0% and MIX 100%. Each curve's visual display can be toggled on/off from the bottom right of the waveform display window.
DEEP Alert: When THRESHOLD exceeds -30dB, the slider knob changes to display the word "DEEP" with a yellow gradation corresponding to the depth, and when it exceeds -45dB, the knob and slider turn red to notify you. Especially with expanders, when the effect is too deep, it creates a fade-in feeling, so recognize when the THRESHOLD is too deep and adjust by mixing in the DRY signal or loosening the THRESHOLD.
Click the waveform display screen to pause the waveform and observe the curves. You can also observe DRY/WET comparison and gradual changes with the MIX knob.
Use this for reliable monitoring and confirmation of transient design.
In EVERTONE EXPANDER, operating the mouse wheel in the waveform display window moves the Y-axis of the green line.
This is a bonus feature that moves off-screen like an oscilloscope, but it can be used for calibration to make the edges of the waveform easier to see.
*Double-click the green line to return to the default position.
Level adjustment is possible at each stage of signal flow.
The output knob changes color to indicate clipping.
Automatically analyzes input and output levels and assists in appropriate level correction. Operates for approximately 5 seconds to adjust WETTRIM to the optimal value.
This plugin actively designs dynamics, so correction is kept to a minimum.
Adjusts the ratio of dry and wet signals, assisting adjustment to desired results from aggressive design to reinforcement.
X4 oversampling reduces aliasing distortion.
Prevents fade-in effects and clipping due to sudden gain changes. Automatically detects gain changes and suppresses unnatural volume changes. Turns off at setting value 0.
Can instantly disable the entire effect.
Links RANGE increase with OUTPUT decrease.
EVERTONE EXPANDER brings true freedom to all musicians and engineers.
